Optical Glass Fibar Connection.
光ファーバーケーブルの接合
学生実験向けのもので、来期の授業の準備もかねていると言うので見せてもらった。
Cross section of fiber is rough, scatterd light is coming out.
断面が粗いと写真のように散乱光が見える.
After taking the coating of glass fiber away except for core and cladding, melt it by mecthyle alcohole actually, cut the section again with special machine which is able to cut sharply.
薬品(メチルアルコール)でファイバーのコア(core)とクラッド(cladding)を残して表皮(coating)を溶かした後、写真の特殊な機械(日本製)でファイバーの断面を切断する。
Looking at with microscope, put the two section of fibers togather by electricity.
顕微鏡を見ながら断面と断面を合わせ、電流により表面を溶かし接合する。
二方向から接合部分が見えるようになっていて、正確に接合することができるようになっていた。
さすがに写真は取れず。
